Magda is a contemporary accessories brand that celebrates the craftsmanship and cultural richness of Colombia through small-batch, handmade designs.
Each bag is the meeting of two masterful hands: it begins with ancestral weaving techniques carried out by women artisans who have inherited their knowledge through generations, and is elevated with leather details crafted entirely by marroquinería artists.
Inspired by regions across the country · and above all by the women who inhabit them · our bags embody the character, strength, and feminine identity that define Colombia.
Each piece reflects this spirit: a fusion of tradition and a contemporary, forward-thinking design language that reinterprets craftsmanship through a modern lens.
Origin of the Name
The name Magda comes from the Magdalena River: a waterway that has shaped not only the Colombian landscape, but also our identity as costeñas from Barranquilla. Along its banks, stories, traditions, and trades have flourished; through it came commerce, music, ideas, and the colors that shaped our region. The Magdalena has been the backdrop of everyday life and a source of inspiration for artists, writers, and dreamers · including Gabriel García Márquez, who found in its waters a metaphor for memory and nation.
For us, Magda represents that constant flow: a river that connects cultures, drives progress, and protects vibrant biodiversity. It is a symbol of origin · movement · and deep connection to the history of the Colombian Caribbean. Carrying its name is our way of honoring that heritage, one that flows through us and inspires each piece we create.
About Us
We are three women from Barranquilla · Jennifer Greenhouse · Andrea Roncallo · Juliana Troncoso · brought together by family ties, years of friendship, and a shared purpose: to show the world the Colombia we know and love. A Colombia that is creative · diverse · and full of tradition, culture, and life. We grew up in the Caribbean, surrounded by its spontaneity and its vibrant way of seeing the world; that energy is an essential part of Magda.
Our professional paths took different directions, but we always returned to the same place: pride in our roots. From that sentiment, Magda was born, driven by the desire to contribute to a fuller and more authentic understanding of Colombia: to highlight its diversity · its culture · and its talent, and to build a brand that feels true to who we are and to the country we want to share.
